TAMPA Yankees manager Aaron Boone is taking an immediate medical leave of absence to receive a pacemaker, the team announced on Wednesday afternoon.Boone will undergo surgery Wednesday evening atSt. Josephs Hospital in Tampa and is expected to get back to work in a few days.As many of you know, I underwent open-heart surgery in 2009, and I wanted everyone to understand where Im at regarding the procedure thats taking place today, said Boone in a statement released by the Yankees. Over the last six-to-eight weeks Ive had mild symptoms of lightheadedne s, low energy and shortne s of breath. While the heart checkup came back normal, there were indications of a low heart rate which, after further consultations with doctors in Tampa, nece sitates a pacemaker."The skipper had been working long days since his team reported to spring training last month.
